This is how I was raised. I saw my mom’s china (from her mother) in a cupboard over the holidays and had forgotten we even had it, but the idea of breaking part of the collection and disappointing the long-dead originator outweighs ever using it for her.

With the caveat that I love games but am terrible at each and every one since I first dropped a quarter in Pac-Man all those years ago...I got Fallout 76 as an xmas gift and I was thinking about opening it this weekend. Anyone have thoughts on it?

I love these previews because I still really love comics, but I have a hard time justifying paying the price of a novel for 10-15 minutes of reading.

I’m really leaning toward getting rid of mine. It is the only place to superficially interact with my extended family, though, so either I have to cut them off completely or make some effort to reach out. And I’d rather just pretend to care at an electronic distance.

As a lawyer, I understand completely.

Thanks for clarifying. That makes more sense, in a world that doesn’t make sense.

Agreed. It’s also unclear that the “churches” referenced are dioceses, ie, regional baronies of many churches.

Every time I attend with family (I cannot defend my own boundaries, okay?) the priest uses the homily to complain about anti-Catholic forces...you know, anyone that acknowledges the massive abuse and coverup as anything but a conspiracy.

I was officially Too Old for that movie when it came out and I love it to this day. It really resonated with me at the time, for reasons, and it may be seen as cheese in some circles, but it’s still one of my favorites.

It is a family obligation that I must attend mass somewhat regularly, despite my own feelings on organized religion and the church itself. One thing I’ve noticed in my parish was the only serious attention to sexual abuse was when the bishop starting making national news and donations dried up. Now he’s gone and the

From what all the other press was saying about her “neck tattoo” I’m surprised. Perhaps it’s because I work with inmates, but “neck tattoo” means something quite different to me than “actual artwork brushing slightly upon the nape of the neck.”

It’s almost artistically sublime in the evilness conveyed so simply.

That is a horrifying family and best wishes to you.

I envy you. My parents can have a conversation, but mom’s siblings and my entire in-law family can’t go five words without praising Trump, regardless of the conversation.

You’ve sort of described my spouse’s family dynamic. All these Constitutional Scholars with their Fox News JDs will be ignoring the one person at the table who actually has a relevant take.

We aren’t even to the holiday yet and yesterday my FIL complained that white bread isn’t as white as it used to be, probably because the minorities hate it being white. He wasn’t trying to make some awful racist dad joke. He literally believes this stuff.

Serenity now.

I don’t think a lot of people realize the constant calculus of carless shopping until they’ve done it. The weight of the groceries, the durability of the items, the bus schedule in terms of how long your groceries will be exposed, the bus schedule in terms of whether the bus in on time...

I’m no longer surprised by people in the rural area where I now live having no concept of public transportation. They have some tv-inspired version where the bus/train picks you up right where you live, when you want, and drops you at the door of your destination minutes later.

For those that don’t watch the show, in the episode that focused most on Kim’s complaints, there was largely footage of him touching/stroking/whatever, followed by his outraged denials that it never happened and he never meant it like that. The claims of the other women as part of the sabotage deflected some heat from
