I've had this conversation multiple times with my own clients and the usual result is talking them into sticking with the sole proprietorship for the first year or two and talking to their insurance agent about a good umbrella liability policy instead of thinking an S-Corp or LLC is going to save them in a lawsuit.

@VayaConQueso: That's a myth. Unless you're making a change that doesn't pass the smell test, filing an amendment has very little chance of triggering an audit.

@tuxus: My only experience with All-Clad's customer service was awesome. I called and got someone quickly, told them a rivet popped off one of my lids and she gave me an RMA number no questions asked. I had a brand new lid back to me in about 10 days.
