I dunno...Von Sydow can pass for younger than he is...and a maddned, broken, and wounded Kanan would look older than his age. It would easily work. The difference in how old Kanan would be and how old Von Sydow is in real life is negligable really.

If I can recommend it, you should watch TCW...after a shaky half first season, and barring filler episodes (anything with Jar Jar, Padme, or the droids at their center) throughout the series (all of which you can safely skip) the Clone Wars tv show is REALLY incredible.

And that’s a fair stance...but remember that the OT, PT, TCW and Rebels are all canon now. So Yoda’s journey and discovery of the Force ghost ability and how it all works is the official word on it now. It almost certainly wasn’t that way to begin with, but it is what we’ve got now.

I think that Rebels could buck expectation (that of having a younger member of the Ghost crew survive the events) and kill off everyone BUT the eldest and most traumatized (Order66 ect.) Ghost member....possibly in front of him...sending him mad and causing him to abandon the Rebellion and find a world on the Outer…
