Every film era has its POS technology. I was rewatching Lawrence of Arabia earlier this year and couldn’t get over how bad the day-for-night scenes in the desert looked in comparison with the rest of the movie. But I guess in the early ‘60s there was no other way to film nighttime shots on location.

That’s how star trek beyond did that and it was the best star trek movie since Khan as it resembled the original TOS and the movies.
