Hollywood could learn from this: genuine suspense (I actually thought that our once invincible hero might be in danger) and violence has-check this out-consequences. The jokey stuff at the beginning was OK, but this show is at its best when it's worldless. That was powerful stuff.

I took the title to be quite literal; the film's nihilism is what put so many people off. About the only thing a black man from the north and white man from the south can come together to do is to hang a woman. It's this quality that I actually like about the film; it goes to hell and doesn't come back.
