I just drove from Wisconsin from Colorado a few days ago, and Nebraskan rest areas were notable for their excellent picnic tables (shaded, concrete tables with privacy walls!). Iowa was notable for its tiny stall doors in the bathrooms.
At least in Iowa you can stop in Iowa City, or grab a Zombie Burger in Des Moines on the way through (and you TOTALLY should.)
