Was there a Jez article when Clinton committed to repealing Hyde? I don't remember seeing one and have been feeling lately like there has been a bit of a Bernie bias on the site. Is it just me or has anyone else felt that?

Yeah. :/
Took me LITERALLY no more than three minutes poking around to find that this venue has a carnival fun-house theme throughout, that the closet was used for halloween with a witch dummy in the closet behind that mirror (hence the wacky cut-out—did anyone actually watch the video?) which was lit up periodically to reveal…
Most of these stories eventually explain what the stupid person actually thought...the root of their stupidity...like not knowing what a scallop is or wanting your toast uncut. And really, just use your words. Please don't cut my toast. What is a scallop? Chocolate cake lady at least *asked* and learned something.
I have never experienced assault at the hands of a male feminist, but I have experienced Macktivism for sure. I only trust men who listen more than they talk about feminism (in a conversation with women), who are feminist in actions but not necessarily name. I look for nuances in conversation, reactions to real world…
True, but that "Rachel cut" was inescapable. I was doing hair during those years. The number of people who described the Rachel cut, and then said, "but I don't want the Rachel cut," was hysterical.
I say, say something, one time. Borne of love. With words chosen carefully. Something like "I love you and want you to be happy, and if that's with douchebag mccontrol then I will respect that and wish you guys the best, but I have noticed him doing x specific thing and it really concerns me. And I just wanted to say…
Uh huh. And why is it that men are, culturally, dominant and women are, culturally, submissive? It couldn't be because there are huge systems of coercion and correction both subtle and overt, right?
I think the problem is with regarding yourself as an ally in the first place. There are situations where the "ally" paradigm fits well, but I feel like it's not well-suited to the problem we see embodied in the deaths of Grant, Martin, Brown, Garner, Rice, and so on. This sort of language implies that white people are…
"Good white people" demonstrate the qualities that all good people demonstrate: kindness, empathy, compassion, thoughtfulness, unconditional love. These are the values I try to instill in my students; that parents try to instill in their children.
Why the freak is this comment languishing in the grays when it's so awesome? I salute you, lady, and your lawn jockey Santa in white face after a bender. #neverforget
Oh my God, I so, so sympathize. This doesn't involve any Williams-Sonoma products, but 10 years on my son is still talking about the Christmas I tried to lightly toast some pignoli nuts (for biscotti) and instead they burned and looked like rat turds and when I threw them out - rather vigorously and hastily - they…
Dude is kidding himself if he thinks 5'10" and 260 is normal body size. But no fatties, amiright? Just a hot, food deprived homeless girl to be his live in sex toy.
Can I just say (and I wish I knew how to post pictures) that my greyhound—Galahad, don't ask—when scolded will always go stick his head in my purse. He just stands there, with his needle nose as far in as he can get it, pretending we can't see his SEVENTY FIVE pound black ass sticking out.
awful awful awful and horrible. And people snarked at Allison Williams? At least the girl can sing!
I honestly really, really hate this. I just want to actually see the real broadway version (not the awful 80s disaster) with people who can sing without auto tune. wtf is this??? But the girl who plays Annie is cute and I will probably watch it anyway.
Damn. Of course there are plenty of horror stories that are better corroborated and where the connections are less tenuous. And of course if I were trying to publish that story in a newspaper I would have found out more details, like what exactly went wrong with her pregnancy, what particular types of aggression she…
In response to an article pointing out how difficult women authors have it in the publishing world and specifically calling out an author's sexism, the commentariat chose to attack her books.
Yeah, well badly designed studies are badly designed studies. Like I rolled my eyes at this one due to A) self report and B)all the other confounds, like whether or not it was actually the male partner initiating. But shitty design isn't restricted to evo psych, or even psychology as a whole.
I also feel really hopeful that one of Brian's "bros" recorded his confession and took it to one of the victims. That's excellent bystander intervention (after the fact) and it's one of the few bits of humanity that's letting me not just crumple in the face of this awfulness.
