What I always found unique about the depiction of racism in "Blazing Saddles" is that it is rooted in, not culture, nor politics, nor philosophy, but sheer stupidity: the residents of Rock Ridge are racist because they're morons. Because of this, Brooks is able to milk the racism for laughs, rather than for conflict.

The lie must have worked, to the extent that I never heard of the guy until he got caught in the lie.
Sorry for the drama, but as "Get Crazy" becomes more and more of a forgotten film with each passing year, my advocacy for its recognition (and official re-release on a non-bootleg, post-VHS platform) can get kind of strident.
GODDAMMIT—HOW COULD YOU NOT ASK HIM ABOUT "GET CRAZY"???????????
I am absolutely gutted by this news

"…that signature withering Sean O’Neal prose."
If this does happen, "Star Wars" fans will need something new to complain about.
Thank God for Ernie Hudson—otherwise, the AV club might have gone a full eleven hours with a "New Ghostbusters" news item.
For thirty years, people have been trying to convince me that I should hate the Ewoks. This is the first time I've heard it put forth that I should at least pay lip service to hating the Ewoks, not in order to win the approval of the Star Wars fan community, but in order to seem enlightened and/or smarter.
"Billie Holiday was one of the most iconic jazz singers of all time."
Conservatives and liberals both want to claim The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again", although, as with much of Pete Townshend's writing, the songs isn't really about political leaders, but spiritual leaders.
That's why, for example, Heart was unable to stop the use of "Barracuda" at 2008 Sarah Palin campaign appearances—because the proper performance license had been purchased. Unlike, for example, European copyright laws, which also attempt to enforce an artist's moral rights, US copyright law is all about economics.
Looks to me like whoever that is has a ladies' purse hanging from his/her wrist (the arm also holding what looks like a sweater) as he/she zips up.
Or a "New Ghostbusters" update.
Eleven more months of AV Club updates about the new "Ghostbusters" flick? Let the good times roll.
