I thoroughly enjoyed the return of "Parks And Recreation", and didn't miss Rashida Jones one bit.

I was surprised by the interview, in that I'd heard both of his "Boogie Nights" commentaries way back when and found him entertaining although somewhat overbearing (and maybe a little drunk) but he's since had four kids and mellowed quite a bit. I once read somewhere that he's never discussed or entertained any…
I got a Dawes notification for THIS???
Yes.
I remember an episode where Phil had bought a new car, and was polishing it. Remley stops by, and for some reason, and makes the mistake of actually touching the car. Phil flips out and exclaims, "Awwwww—you left a smudge on it!" Remley's feigned apology killed me: "Wellllllll, sloppy old me!"
Benny also starred in an hourlong radio adaptation of "The Horn Blows At Midnight"—I think it was on "The Lux Radio Theater".
There's also Donald Quinn, the producer/head writer of "Fibber McGee And Molly", who was a pioneer of the weekly situation comedy formula, yet is mostly forgotten today (it is criminal how the FMAM Wikipedia page underplays the significance his contribution).
At Jack Benny Middle School in Waukegan, Illinois, the school sportss teams are each called the "39ers". http://benny.wps60.org/home
It's also a joke that has been around for decades, almost compulsively invoked whenever a male public figure of limited sex appeal ties the knot. I recall Kevin Nealon using the same line while seated at the same desk after Yassir Arafat got married.
Part of me fears rewatching the episode, in that the makeup job might not seem so great by 2014 standards (not to mention familiarity with how Herrmann actually did age after the mid-1980's) . I mostly remember being amazed at how well Herrmann was able to portray Father McCabe at all of those different ages.
Probably my all-time favorite two-parter of any series ever. This was the role where I was first able to put his face with his voice.
It annoys me to no end how the AV Club went to such great length to not spoil "Serial", yet continues to reveal "Parks And Recreation" guest cast spoilers IN THE FUCKING HEADLINE.
Often the issue is with the insurance provider—there can be a reluctance to allow any scenario under which a lawsuit could be filed against the production; even if the party filing suit has a terrible case, threat of litigation costs is often enough for the provider to refuse coverage.
I'm realizing now that I misstated whatever it was that I was trying to express above. Let me try again: Most of the theatrical movies I have seen in recent years have had test-audience friendly endings. Something like that.
Good point. God knows, I've seen very few test-audience-friendly theatrical movies in the past few years.
I've always wondered if Jay had been acting as a police informant on other investigations at the time of the murder, giving the police a reason to try to protect him (as they certainly appeared to be doing.) Read up on Whitey Bulger for an illustration of how far the FBI was willing to go to protect an informant.
Well, I still wish that she had thrown some of that sweet Mail Chimp cash at an expert who could at least address the question of what a coroner might have been able to find on a body found under similar circumstances (buried outdoors in January, strangled manually) that this victim's remains were recovered.
I did wonder why Koenig spent so little time on the physical evidence at the burial site, specifically any findings by the medical examiner. While the inconsistancies of Jay's testimony concerning Jay measured against the cell phone evidence was exhaustively covered, we really never heard whether Jay's testimony about…
"We Didn't Start The Fire" is a song that certainly provoked me…to change the station.
Is it me? These AV Club SNL reviews have gotten me so mistrustful of my dogged, and incessant "whiteness" that I find myself cringing as I watch sketches such as the wedding sketch, for no better reasan than I then expect a couple of paragraphs of the above to angrily deconstruct the sketch as an example of how white…
