3rd gear - This cannot be overstated: AECD =/= cheating.

I used to scoff at BMW owners, but my diesel genes run deep...I got the itch for a new car and decided to cash in on the VW buyback (2012 Jetta sedan), two months later I’m in an imperial blue 2014 328d xDrive Wagon.

I’ve commonly heard it referred to it as an “electric assist” turbocharger or e-turbo. The motor added to an e-turbo is meant to boost the performance in low pressure ratio areas of the map, whereas the motor in an electric supercharger is it’s only source of propulsion.

Late to the game, but here is one that may not have been mentioned.

For heavy-duty vehicles (off-highway, semi trucks, etc), parts are also a huge revenue generator. You don’t turn a huge profit from the initial vehicle sale, but that cash starts flowing later on.

I’m late to the game on this one, but I’ve got a relevant info to your musings on the FTP cycle listed above.

I got a great new set of desktop backgrounds (this on included) from that Jalop photo shoot. Great stuff!

Don’t forget Toyota in the 90s. And GM in the 90s.

Diesel engineer here. We’re also developing variable compression engines.

I’ve put 88k miles on my 2012 Jetta TDI, riding that NOx pedal hard on the highway and still getting 50+ mpg. By the time the fix is released, I should be around 100k. So, assuming 1) I drive this car to 200k miles and 2) the fix takes me back down to the advertised highway fuel economy when I bought the car (42 mpg),

Aber Klaus...

I lowsided recently at low speed, and my Icon 29er gloves ripped in two places at the seam between the leather on the palm side and the tech fabric on the back side. Rash on my right pinky, right wrist (jacket rolled up), and left thumb. Was disappointed in that bad luck, as it rendered the gloves useless when there

My thoughts exactly. The EPA has guidelines for engine and aftertreatment warm up, and during this time period the emissions are allowed to be higher. It is during this period that the engine attempts to get the aftertreatment system up to operating temperature. Short stints of city driving and cold temperatures are

Seems that the Leo Vince/Revzilla thing would be moot if it didn’t interfere with any exhaust control devices on your bike, such as a catalyst or evaporative emissions system. Want new Slip-ons? Go for it.

The solution to the 2.0 is exactly as simple. They just are installing a reformulated lean NOx trap (LNT) and reflashing the software to update the DeNOx strategy.

It will be a reformulated LNT (lean NOx trap) with higher NOx storage capabilities.

“Punk” rock music...so, like, Good Charlotte?

*emits up to 40x the legal emissions limit.

Worst: Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 (UK).

Navistar tried to go EGR-only for EPA13 emissions, and that went very very poorly...
