The M100 Lotus Elan, it was the best handling FWD car, of it’s time.

Going to have to say it, Classic SAAB 900 Turbo.
Double wishbone suspension and “passive rear steering”, equal length front axles so minimal torque steer and impressive handling for a FWD car. And just look at it:

The World’s Nicest S1 might be worth the asking price, but only if it was already completed, and it was mostly original. I get what he’s going for with all the mods but then I don’t think it can command concours-level price.

I saw a V8 car go for under $50K on Hemmings Auctions this past December, so $75K seems a big

Moving to D.C., eh? I would strongly discourage a manual transmission.

But...it’s a business. Volvo continuing to exist is a thing I would like more than it being overtly esoteric. Let us never forget SAAB.

This part.

Novel idea:
Instead of going out and blowing $25k before you’re established in a job and have a known steady income, just keep what you have for a year or so so you get a better grasp on life and what you’ll actually need.

This wins, I forgot how awful these were. To make it worse, this is a press photo, meaning that this is literally the cleanest and nicest this can ever look. All of the actual calibers left on the road (literally tens of them I’m assuming) assuredly look even worse than this does.

I call your 1990's GM and raise you early 2000s Dodge Caliber. I had a new, low mileage rental once.

Part of what makes this interesting is that car design really hasn’t changed as much as we all thought it would while watching Minority Report or Demolition Man. There are easy “timeless” choices that litter the comments right now that I don’t think hit the mark of “unexpected.” There was one very good Volvo choice in

love these. look great. Design over a decade old that still looks totally fresh

GAWT DAMN!!!!!”

I still love the Volvo V50. And don’t even get me started on the waterfall dashboard.

Wow! That’s a clean Daytona!

These were terrible cars. The ergonomics sucked, the top sucked, the engine sucked, the transmission really, really, really sucked. They did handle quite well though.

And not a damn thing of value was lost this day.

“...but died anyway”

Build quality is great, which honestly surprised me. I still have yet to encounter an interior trim piece that feels ill fitting or flimsy. Even the shifter, which is electronic and is probably one of the best I’ve used, feels good to the touch.

2001 VAG products were not known to be the most reliable in the world... far from it. With stage 3 upgrades, that reliability number goes down which I don’t know if you can have negative numbers when it comes to reliability.

Obviously it’s Sophia 3rd!
