As a biased former G35 owner, the Infiniti is a great choice. And as someone else suggested, the Acura TSX is an equally good choice.

I went a lot newer than that. Much as I love the old red blocks as period pieces and would love to have a really nice one as a toy, I went with an ‘04 V70 2.4 non-turbo. Damned near as simple, plenty of power, and infinitely quieter and more comfortable and reasonably modern. Pretty too - Peter Horbury’s best work,

Nope.

No.
Aside from the mess of all the rednecks and MAGA turds not being able to back their bro-dozers into a parking space accurately, and taking 3 tries to get it even close, and then banging their door into my car because they’re simple-minded morons who can’t be bothered to pay any attention to what the fuck they’re

The volvo was the only one that made actual sense to me too. If you can find one, the Polestar is only a few grand more. Modded “base” models are probably the way to go honestly, if the price is right

Volvo R-Design V60 if you can find one, preferably a 2016 which was the last year you can get the 3.0 I6 turbo motor (very stout). Only downside is the interior is gonna be pretty dated....but still very functional.

Sticking with Wagons, Saab 9-5 Aero Sportcombi or Saab 9-3 AeroX Sportcombi (Turbo-X like below if you can find one)

In the early evening, just as the sun fell behind the trees - a gale blew from the west just right, and I heard the mournful cries of a broken man...

Lots of things could go wrong here, but the body looks pretty cherry and the interior is even better. I’m not a fan of the RX-7 but I can certainly see the appeal, and this one appears to still have most, if not all of its appeal still in residence.

I saw the first photo and was immediately itching to vote NP, but I’m slightly worried by the no-engine-bay situation.

I’ve never been so excited to vote NP on a car.  This things is beautiful inside and out.  And I’m not even a fan of RX7s or rotaries.  I mean, I like them, but never had any intention or ambition to own one.  The paint’s a little dull, but it can be brought back up with a little wheel action and some tender love.

Oh YEAH! One of my “wants” from back when, but either too poor or spending too much on other things (houses, wives, kids, motorcycles).

You make me realize I don’t have a lot of pics of the thing but here are a couple. Last ones after I installed a custom flat bottom alcantara wrapped steering wheel.

V8 swaps into these cars are pretty straight forward (Paul Newman puffers ftw). That said, unless this was professionally done by a shop with lots of experience (Converse Engineering for example), this price does not equal the sum of all the parts.

Love vs hate. Love Volvos, the engine transplant and it appears to be a pro installation, although a strange one.

Love the sleeper aspect of the brick, and this is one of those cars that I haven’t really seen the ‘drop an LS in’ method, though I would have probably put more fun wheels on it.  Interior is in way nicer shape than I’ve seen in an older Volvo.

I KNOW WHAT THIS IS!

Recently there was a Volvo featured in a Nice Price or No Dice article. You could see where the factory cold air ducting had been removed and a “performance” short ram open cone filter was plopped in place.

Too afraid to give anyone ideas.  If we’re all quiet, maybe the prices won’t go up.
