Please don’t ever eat at a sit down restaurant if you’re not going to tip. Most servers in the United States don’t make minimum wage. Tips are literally their livelihood—they are not doing their job for shits and giggles.
The main problem is that, at least in most states, those workers are making less than minimum wage and while their employer is legally supposed to bring them up to the minimum if they do not make enough in tips, it doesn’t happen.
