I don’t know what law, but it seems that NYS blocks release of 911 recordings outside of NYC, but allows it in NYC.  Now I get that SOMETIMES that protects victims, but far more often protects lousy police or dispatcher work.

They definitely are trained for this situation but I think this person might think they are getting trolled (because you know people are assholes) and not have thought the other obvious choice of why someone would be whispering while calling the police.

I went through dispatch training once until I decided it wasn’t for me, but yes, you absolutely go through stuff like this.  Even in bumfuck FL they train in simulated calls and - showing the sad state of affairs this country finds itself in - there were simulated calls that were literally active shooter on school…

When I lived in L.A., I called 911 after hearing gunshots outside my house. (Turned out to be the FBI raiding the house across the street.) The dispatcher argued with me about my address and sent no one. I was a cell phone and she just insisted I wasn’t where I said I was. Useless.

Question: When in training, 911 dispatchers aren’t trained for situations like this unfortunate incident? This is the... fourth (?) incident that I’ve read about in which a 911 dispatcher hung up on callers.

Honestly Oz beating McCormick will be the best thing for Fetterman. PA republicans tend to skew more fiscally conservative than socially conservative (insomuch as wanting to impose their social will on others), so as a fairly pro-business Democrat, Fetterman may win them over. I hope.
