Why are everyone’s uniforms only blue with strips of gold, copper or silver? Even the all blue jumpsuits in Enterprise had strips of canon appropriate colour to indicate department.

I’ll reserve my judgement off the show until I’ve actually seen it, but the color coding for the different branches is stupid. What was wrong with the yellow, blue and red uniforms which make identification so much easier.

I’ma seconding this: the first thing that struck me about this bridge (and actually much of the other interior ship shots) is how shiny, reflective and glare-y everything is (it also seems pretty dark, lighting-wise). I get that maybe the ship is more combat-oriented than TOS Enterprise, so darker lighting might make

Exactly, perfect example: (as these also- in series chronological order)

At least maintain some kind of visual contunity with what came before. Okay, knobs and levers wouldnt sell in an ipad era, but why not do it like Doctor Who? You can still tell this:

I can understand wanting to update the look of the klingons, but WHY CHANGE THEM SO MUCH?

The Orville “looks” more Star Trek but it definitely doesn’t look like a better Star Trek show.

They managed to recreate the look of the Original Series era in DS9 and Enterprise. They made a complete replica of a Constitution class bridge for the USS Defiant set and it looked great. They could have done something similar here. Heck even in Star Trek 09 the design of the Kelvin took inspiration from the TOS

Are you kidding me? Do you know the amount of effort production designers took to make episodes like Trials and Tribble-ations, to bring back every single freaking detail because otherwise it wouldn’t feel real?

Then they should’ve placed it later in the timeline, not before the 60s show.

I’m as big a Trek fan as anyone but I’m reserving judgement for now.

...so, is anyone else kinda tired of nuTrek prequels keep adding new aliens in Starfleet?

Because it’s not the 60's anymore.

I echo your thoughts. The story and characters look great, but they are taking huge liberties with look/tech of the timeline.

I think the Uniforms are very Spiffy and I’m excited to see a Women of Colour in the lead. Doug Jones looks awesome in that makeup

Even though the Arrowhead don’t make much sense pre TOS. It was the Enterprise logo before it became the Federation logo.

The Reliant crew are, at best, terrible at their jobs:

Kind of hard to judge based on a single picture, but Star Fleet officers wearing robes in the desert is not entirely without precedence.
Still a strange choice to make this the first look at the characters.

The distinguishing features of a Star Trek planet are the orange sky and a big rock in the middle of a flat plain*. This certainly looks within a whisker of those traditions.
