Do you know that a lot of positive science fiction is currently published in India and China? People seem to write optimistic fiction when they feel that their society is improving - regardless of where it is on an absolute scale.

I am now imagining Star Trek Land at Disneyworld and all the awesomeness that would entail.
Wouldn’t it be weird if Disney suddenly bought Star Trek?
I have been having a ridiculously frustrating week, but all these Star Trek 50 posts have me like this.
My entire adult personality is simply layers of the TNG senior staff, with opacity on each layer defined by the necessity of the moment.
Goes to show the difference between “best” and “favorite” when it comes to movies. Best? Hard call between 2 and 6. Favorite? 4, all the way.
I think this movie is a testament to just how good these characters are. The idea is completely stupid on paper and the movie really doesn’t explore too many deep themes in comparison to the rest of the series, but it’s still just so incredibly entertaining to watch them out of their element that the movie works.
Me too. I dunno what it is but I love the design of the Ambassador Class.
Defiant, hands down. It was a an overpowered, overgunned warship designed for killing Borg. The Falcon, as much loved as it is, is a barely held together jerry-rigged cargo ship with minimal armaments. Defiant wins this 10 times out of 10, even without a cloaking device or ablative armor.
There’s two ships (or a station) missing from the opening image and one doesn’t belong up there...
Excuse you.
A beautiful example is Leslie Jones telling the story of seeing Whoopi Goldberg on television for the first time and being so thrilled to see someone who looked like her. And that connects back to Goldberg, when she saw Uhura on Star Trek at age nine. “I looked at it and I went screaming through the house,” she said,…
The Animated series was one of the best shows.
That crappy animation is somehow really charming to this day, tho. It really compliments the dry delivery of the recorded voices :)
Naw, it’s gotta be a regulation command uniform with the words written on the back. What a cosplay that would be, even if you went to a Trek convention there would be only 18 people that got it.
Marred only by the animation quality. Plus, you’d be in the hospital because of the first episode.
The Animated Series, while infinitely kooky, is worth at least one full go through. Though, damnit, I want a live action version of “The Lorelei Signal”, that is the best episode of the lot. I’d say the best five episodes are “The Lorelei Signal,” “The Magicks of Megas-Tu,” “Yesteryear,” “How Sharper Than a Serpent’s…
Hear, hear. She never got enough of a shot for her character to develop past where she started. I always felt she got a bad rap for being no nonsense and business first. Also, nice to see an older lady (i.e. not under 30) serving on the Enterprise.
McCoy was and will always be my favourite character in Star Trek. I just admired his tenacity. He took everything on the chin. He put his life above everyone elses and I love that fact about him. Even when he was dying from an “incurable” disease, he still risked his life to tell the Enterprise the secrects of…
I have to agree with KT, I’ve always thought Bones was an unsung hero in TOS. Bones was always the stabilizing influence. When Kirk went too far into the clouds, he brought him down to earth. When Spock was to grounded he reminded him there were loftier considerations like ethics and morality.
