There’s also an inflatable Enterprise copy

Fraiser wanted to be there but he was trapped in a causality loop. Give him a break!

this was bad.

Point of order: Deep Space Nine wasn’t cancelled, it ended. Concluded. TOS and Enterprise were cancelled, but the TNG-era shows were just finished.

To be fair, DS9 wasn’t cancelled. It was always the showrunners’ intention to end the series after seven seasons.

So, The Hunger Games?

It was by accident and not by design, but my kids saw the Johnny Depp Willy Wonka movie before they saw the original. Being kids (under 5 years old) they watched the movie about 50 times. When I finally got my hands on the DVD for the “Wilder Wonka” movie, I watched it with them immediately. After our first viewing I

I’m not crying, you’re crying! It’s just looks like I’m crying because of all the tears in your eyes, you crying crier. Also, rain.

Oddly, watching Episode VII’s completely derivative plot (which I felt ended up being an OK if not great movie) actually made me appreciate what Lucas was attempting to do in the prequels

Also as many astronauts have said uniquely one of the hard sci-fi that gets most of the science and engineering right.

Also,

Agree on Goldsmith’s score. Especially the Klingon elements. But they always get great music.

Counterpoint: Star Trek V is not just a good movie, it is the movie that is closest in spirit to the original Star Trek tv series.

Well said. It’s so ironic how a franchise so manifestly about the future has been trapped in its own past since 2002. It boggles the mind, really. For the life of me I can't comprehend what makes the powers that be so eager to retread what's long gone. All it does is create continuity issues. I just can't wrap my head

Star Trek Federation really sounds like it could have been interesting. I’ve always thought that the way for Star Trek to move forward is by actually moving forward: no reboots, no going back in time, always be set in a future period than previous series.

Shouldn’t they read 1701-D?

I think it’s the artist’s way of commenting on how the 2009 Star Trek feels arguably more “Star Wars-y” than “Star Trek-y”. It’s undoubtedly the same reason that, while so many of these others are from the correct studio, Star Trek is labelled as being from CBS•Fox Video, the original home video distributor for Star
