I've been reading this column for years. Sad to see it go, but Mike and team did an awesome job.

I remember watching most of Hong's films within a span of 2-3 days for an essay and immediately regretted it. Even with notes, Hong repetition of character and story types made it incredibly difficult to keep track when doing research. Should've spread out the screenings.

The way Fabian yells and cheers for Gregorius during the match has stuck with me over the years. Great film.

I'd watch the shit out of Salmon Ladder.

Despite the abuse plot in the film, the naturalism in the filmmaking really enhances many of the scenes. That last sequence is especially affecting.

Absolutely. The Beast is probably one of the best tank films ever made. Despite the carnage onscreen, it's an effecting, well-paced thriller.
