You still get credit for kills in a party. There is no need to tag with people in your own group. It's outside of parties where you gotta pick up the damage if you want credit. But it's super dumb to do so 99% of the time. 

Multiple people can tag a mob for quest rewards on Vanilla. But the requirements are stupidly hard to manage for the person who hasn’t tagged the mob. They have to do something like 80% of the damage dealt to get reduced exp and loot rewards.

DA:I had the same problems but on a smaller scale then Anthem. And I feel that it’s just because for whatever reason, Bioware is just hot garbage at using EA’s in house engine from DICE.
