Exactly right. The article states that the car was .010 out of spec. The tolerance is .012. If I’m understanding this correctly, they were within the tolerance? Or .002 outside of it?

Where did you see that? I can’t believe I missed it!
NASCAR can and has taken steps in-race to prevent this. If they see a team do something to change the body shape or intentionally alter the car outside of the rules they will make them fix it, like the jackman on the #2. A team might get away with it once or twice, but after the second time a car comes through post…
All of the rules NASCAR has have a tolerance built in. At the measurements we’re talking about there needs to be a tolerance built in. Ten-thousandths of a inch is too fine of a margin to police. NASCAR gives them a window to play in. It’s up to the teams to decide how far to push that window.
You will always hear crew chiefs tell drivers to “remember their checklists” after they take the checkered. I’m sure some of that checklist involves getting the car as legal as possible before they come to pit road.
I can’t Facebook at work, but if you go to the Larson Race Cars Facebook page and scroll down a little, you’ll see that Larry Larson trailered his S10 to the track and had the motor shipped to the track to meet him. Stuffed the engine in the truck and won the event.
This riding postion was used for a world speed record in 1948. 150mph.
What about the “Bad Seed” Chevette that Hot Rod did awhile back?
You are correct. Whoever starts the race gets the points and the credit of victory.
I would say it’s probably more that they don’t want to overwhelm Bowman. He’s doing quite well in a Nationwide car. Let him focus on that and not deal with the pressure of filling in for the sport’s most popular driver. Also, putting Gordon in the car at one of his best tracks might be good shot in the arm for a team…
I’ll be interested to see what Alex Bowman can do in Hendrick equipment. He rode around in the back last year in an underfunded team. Then Jr put him in a Nationwide car and he’s been in the top 10 every week it seems.
Agreed. When it comes off the boat it swings around a bit before finally dislodging. From his perspective it was probably very hard to tell which way it was going to go. Panic braking on the I-94 in that stretch (I live in that area) will get you killed by someone tailgating you while they’re on their phone. Wasn’t as…
But he does have a pretty face.
I’m sure it was done for free by some local prod company. I know I’d be involved if asked.
I follow the Shakopee, Chaska, Eden Prairie and Bloomington PD Facebook pages even though I live in St. Louis Park simply for this reason.
Seconded. I leave the metro area immediately when I’m on a bike.
As a motorcyclist, Thank you.
However it is fun to find the videos from when Hamilton and Tony Stewart as well as Juan Pablo Montoya and Jeff Gordon swapped cars and think about what could have been. Gordon wanted to be in IndyCars or F1 when he was growing up.
Can I get a rough estimate as to what this car is worth?
Dave has been a great addition to this show. Him and Fred are hilarious together.
