It was such great symmetry that everyone they showed in that montage (except I guess Henry) was sneaking around doing something. Paige is sneaking out of the house, but at the same time Philip is sneaking around the basement developing pictures.

A+

Amazing. Have never been so scared of Philip before that moment. Matthew Rhys can really bring it. And then Paige snuck out again? I would've been terrified in my room…

Not necessarily. In real life for the illegals they caught, they got sent back to Russia, but other than that it wasn't really that bad.

I didn't see it as abnormal they were getting it on that much, but as a viewer, seeing nothing new presented about the character and getting shown "Martha likes getting banged" over and over caused me to lose interest in the character. I think anything if overdone can become boring.

It was the overdoing of the ecstasy during sex. The "shoot yourself into me, Clark," the big grins while Clark looks like he could vomit and she's oblivious to it… I didn't mind the first scene. I could've been fine with two. By the 3rd I was tired of it and the 4th seemed like overkill. I wanted to know something new

And that I would really enjoy watching. For now, I will trust the show. They did a great job last season and didn't keep characters around as dead weight after their time was done (Gregory, Amador)

It wasn't until episode 8, but after that point, it seemed like all we saw her do was get it on with "Clark."

Unfortunately, they really made me see Martha as a caricature and I've never been able to gain any respect for her back.

I just want to see them on screen together no matter what the state of things. Their marriage is the emotional draw of the show, when it's in rough patches or good patches. They had one strong scene at the end, but the short ones were too rushed and they really need those slower emotional scenes that pull everything

B+ It was well made but so much table setting. What really resonates with me are the emotional moments in the marriage and those were too rushed this time. Even in other episodes where they weren't together much (Philip and Elizabeth) they were stronger because they would insert a few key moments. I'm thinking "Duty

I mean, it really has to happen. Either that or they kill "Clark" but I think they probably need to tie off the loose ends better than that. Plus it could cause a huge amount of guilt for Philip and lead to interesting things.

I kind of worry if they go there it will be the end of the show. I already can barely watch scenes with Martha as it is. They've been mercifully short so far at least.

From a sensibility standpoint, he 100% would. From the writer's standpoint, it's a great club to have in your bag. I cross my fingers that he has.

I will say I like her better this season than last. I am grateful they've given her something to do and more of a personality besides just the sex scenes, which I got pretty tired of last season.

Right. Like I could enjoy this playing up more and more for the time being, but I think anything can be overdone. They said in an interview they didn't want to keep "going to the well" of Philip and Elizabeth's marriage always being in jeopardy because people would get bored with it, and I feel like the same is true

Ugh, no kidding. No more screen time is needed there.

I dunno about Martha being a long game for the show. I think there's only so far they can push it with that character before it just becomes depressingly sad and a joke. It already carries that in some ways, and I think that can work well, but probably not for more than another season. Like I can see her inadvertently

I think she was distracted this episode, but she would definitely want to double back before dropping the kids and "missing the exit" is the best excuse to do that.

I suspect Martha herself, but watch them surprise me.
