I’m having difficulty understanding Margaret Cho’s perspective here. It sounds like Tilda was up front about the issues, expressed her desire to do something about it and sought advice from someone who is in a good position to provide it. It can be, but it’s also overused and sometimes completely unnecessary to the overall narrative of the story being told. The same way that the plot device of a man losing a woman love interest to death or capture is.
