I agree with this. The news keeps feeding me info about “Real America” but even having grown up in a rust belt small town, I don’t know what that means. Any info is better than nothing, as long as its factual

That’s really interesting about Puerto Rico, I never really thought about it from the perspective you are describing but its food for thought.

I’ve lived all over the east coast (including DC) and I agree its a great way to make small talk, if its asked the right way. Which it often is not. Because most people aren’t asking me if I’m from the northeast, they are asking me where my parents immigrated from. And of course, most of the time its meant innocently,

I understand that its nice to ask people where they are from, but that shouldn’t be the first question. There’s a million ways to do it in a way that show interest in asking about culture, and there are lots of ways to ask in a inclusive way. But in all honesty, its not what normally happens.

And that’s the problem. Because if I answer the northeast, the response is usually, “No really where are you really from?” And its great that you are egalitarian and ask everyone, but that has not been my experience, its usually centered on those who look different.

Yeah but it gets really really frustrating to be asked this over and over again. Especially when your answer isn’t always accepted. And its even more frustrating because its something you don’t see white people being asked.

Phryne!!!! Gah, love that woman. I’m so excited for the movie!

I miss Agent Carter. She was sass and awesome. And CMM became bearable on TV which says something about the writing. I get angry when I see all the seriously sub-par Marvel shows on the air, instead of the joy and 40s nostalgia of that show.

Yeah that’s it, literally the most heart wrenching thing I’ve ever seen.

Isn’t there an utterly heartbreaking documentary from HBO about this? The mom and son ended up killing her psychopath husband, and the mother went to jail for manslaughter.

I remember watching “The Mummy” and just falling in love with him. He’s the entire reason “Sliding Doors” is my go-to Rom Com

THIS!!! I hate hate hate CPCs. The crap they feed patients that you then have to convince them was in fact lies and not based in anything real. Its so sorely disappointing to find out trained health professionals darken their doors, its against every oath we take.

Having worked at an abortion clinic, I despised this aspect. We have to do an ultrasound in order to do the procedure in the best possible way, but having to show it to the patient disgusted me. It not only stripped the patient’s rights, but mine as a provider to give good care to my patient, which means taking care

I did it. It’s not super human, its this deep down recognition that you are going to fail at something, and in reality, for me its motherhood. I’m a better doctor than mom. I’m not the primary care giver, and my son rarely calls out for me. I hope it works out in the end, and I’m endlessly grateful for my truly

I can’t even express how disgusted I am with the comments on this list. Like physicians aren’t people who deserves lives outside the hospital, that we should sell ourselves to our jobs and oh we chose this, we need to deal with it. Its misogyny at its best.

Great comment, really meaningful.

My patient’s have shown up in that list. I have no idea how, and I know that other physicians have said the same has happened to them. Its weird, uncomfortable and I wish it didn’t happen.

I had the same thing happen to me only in reverse. In two separate situations (working on a political campaign, out of town coworker), my husband regularly hung out with gorgeous smart women. I was either a harassed medical student or a harassed resident who was super pregnant, so frankly not my best.

100% agree!!!! I’m a doctor, and we are literally the stupidest with managing health care.

Yes!
