Hey it actually really sucks that you’re still buying into the racist and sexist “Bernie Bro” myth, given that he has the most diverse coalition supporting him and that women and PoC who support him have told people like you over and over that they find that term to be racist and sexist erasure of them.

Can I finally criticize Hillary or Kamala without having antisemitic slurs thrown at me? Because that would be nice too.

No irony, when I learned as a kid that Palpatine had apparently cloned himself a bunch of times and lived on my first thought was “well, that’s stupid.” As a kid! I didn’t know the word “canon” but I basically decided that for myself, at least, that was not canon, because it was just too stupid.

This is one of those things that has made me wonder the whole time if this trilogy just shouldn’t be made at all. And mind you I really enjoyed TFA and TLJ. Just the fact that the entirety of Return of the Jedi, if not that whole trilogy, is invalidated by the new one is a huge huge bummer, and now J.J. couldn’t help

*cue GasolineForHobbies coming up like the Mr. Gotcha “I am very intelligent” guy*

This is what he does. I’m too intimidated to write him, but he’s well known for writing detailed (within the boundaries of the question) and thoughtful answers to anyone who writes him.

By net effect I mean the net effect on the audience. Maybe you individually were aware that the torture element of the plot is based on lies (actually, most of the film is but that was less clear in 2012 than it is now) and were able to look at it in that context. If so, great, but that’s not the reaction most of the

That’s a pretty generous reading of a film that leaks showed the CIA literally picked as a conduit for their message:

It’s a film in part supported and funded by the Pentagon. I assure you they had some idea of what they were getting with their assistance.

It’s actually a common tactic in propaganda to try to mask the propaganda by including some light critiques of the subject (especially if you can show that the subject has a sense

I mean, the Captain America films by and large are basically military propaganda tho. (And not even as bad as Captain Marvel, which is just literally an Air Force recruitment as.)

Sure, but this interview was also resurfaced after weeks of Marvel fans having a prolonged tantrum over Scorsese and Coppola saying (in Marty’s case pretty gently, frankly) that they don’t like the movies themselves. Which seems to prove Moore’s point about the audience for them.

Saying you don’t think YA novels should be assigned as mandatory college reading for an educational program isn’t exactly the definition of assholery. I would probably have the same reaction and would resent having that assigned to me, without it being a value judgment of the books themselves. Regardless, Dessen could

Nicole Cliffe is probably a spotty person to be speaking to this. Having said that, if you look through the replies to her tweets there are some personal stories of him being kind of a creep, like insistently getting the number of a woman he met at yoga from the studio (after she had declined to give it to him in

So is anyone gonna ask Nick about his father and brother being hired to take down Harvey Weinstein accusers, or,

The animosity between Gunn and Jared Leto goes a lot deeper than his on-set behavior. Gunn has openly insinuated that Leto creeps on underage girls. (And given Gunn has some experience with false accusations of that nature, I doubt he is saying it lightly.)

I’m surprised it’s considered so obscure. It was on the Disney Channel a lot in the 90s.

I’ve never seen On Cinema. I went to see this Wednesday night and thought it was hilarious absurdist satire, and I’m flabbergasted that some of the reviewers are so down on it.

This seems like an awkward time to remember that Dean Norris was accused of rape.

I don’t have a super strong opinion about this. The study may very well be correct, but I’m also aware that studies like that tend to get twisted a bit when reported in popular press (such as pop psychology magazines). But anyway that wasn’t really the point.

It’s a far right website best known for extreme racism and pushing the Iraq war. Part of researching this should include researching and evaluating the source. Just saying.
