NDT seems to have a lot of deranged fanboys. I liked him (before this), but it’s not super surprising. He gets a lot of the fedora crowd.

The point isn’t the last however many days. It’s the fact that people have been asking him about this for YEARS and he hasn’t responded. And no, he is not “obligated” to, but for someone making his entire statement about the value of inquiry, it is more than a little hypocritical that he didn’t submit to any inquiry

Well I share your distaste for the Kochs, however if I’m not mistaken NDT doesn’t have much to do with the dinosaur wing itself. (I am most familiar with his work on the planetarium. I have fond memories of going one year with my partner and listening to his narration.) That said, you are kind of playing your hand

Lol did you literally send me like ten replies now? You’re deranged.

Nah dude, you’re still missing my point. I’m not saying he needs to respond on Twitter itself (though why exactly you and others are so hung up on this does sort of escape me given that celebrities now issue statements about issues like this on Twitter all the time. In fact, Tyson himself just did, finally). However,

Allowing actual journalists to ask him about it could have put this to bed. If he is innocent (which I was 50/50 about until this week, and now find extremely doubtful) then an actual inquiry of the very sort he discusses in his statement would theoretically have demonstrated his innocence. In fact, the journalist who

He could have at least answered journalists. And the fact that “randos” (meaning, fans of his who were concerned) should have at least tipped him off that this was something worth answering to.

It’s amazing that your takeaway from someone like Trump is that another celebrity with a carefully fabricated image couldn’t POSSIBLY have hurt women.

Until recently I liked him too. I enjoyed his Daily Show appearances like everyone else. Ever been to the planetarium at the NY Natural History Museum? It’s great and he’s done a great job curating it.

Until recently I actually liked him. Casual fan, to be sure, but I liked reading interviews with him and always enjoyed his appearances on Stewart and Colbert, and found him to be a likable and inspiring figure. I’m more disappointed than anything. But I always care when a celebrity abuses others and their fans come

Based on the way NDT tweets, he absolutely does. And journalists were bugging him there because he wasn’t answering their inquiries. You know, the type that could have put this to bed, years ago.

I wasn’t the one asking him. Journalists were, because he wouldn’t answer their inquiries otherwise. I only even saw it because (as a fan of his) I became concerned about the reports and wanted to see if he had at least addressed them. He never bothered until this snowball. So I stand by what I said.

It’s sad that your reading comprehension is too poor to understand what I was actually saying.

I’m not talking about since this recent report came out. The blogs about it have been around for YEARS. The first Patheos article was a year ago. He has persistently ducked it over that time.

Sure, but he could have at least noticed he was being asked about it a lot and finally spoken to reporters. Even PR-conscious celebrities know when they have a problem and should at least run a statement by their lawyer. He’s been asked about it for some time.

At the risk of repeating myself in other comments, the reason Twitter is relevant here is that he was clearly being asked about it. He was aware of the fact that people had questions about it and journalists were asking him on Twitter precisely because he wouldn’t answer their questions elsewhere either. In any case,

As said in another reply: I’m not saying he had to respond to every tweet, which in fact is an incredibly bad faith reading of what I actually said. I’m saying that given that he was constantly being asked about this, he was clearly aware of the fact that people had questions about it and that there were journalists

He was asked on Twitter because the writer at Patheos could not otherwise get him to respond to questions. And for people who were just fans of his, and were concerned about the reports, they had no other real way to ask, for obvious reasons. In any case, the point is not to say that he should have responded to every

He also ducked questions about it every time he was asked about it online. I know because people frequently asked about it in his Twitter replies. Screw him, he could have spoken up any time.

I asked this same question here months ago and people jumped down my throat to claim the victim was lying. So that would be the answer I guess.
