Alexander would really make no sense as the creator. She’s a filmmaker, she has no meaningful connection to any of the publications on that list (the closest thing would be one included person who works on The Daily Show, which is at least a Hollywood entertainment product) and there’s no reason she would give a shit

If I didn’t think Mia Farrow was also kind of an awful person I’d probably feel really terrible about how much of her career is wrapped up in the work of (alleged) sex abusers. I mean, I know she was in other stuff but the films she did that people are still talking about now were pretty much all directed by Woody

I’m kind of in the same boat. Certainly I think he’s a creep at minimum, and I do lean towards him being guilty. But I just can’t get around the Moses Farrow thing. The way he describes his mother’s iron fist treatment of him and the other kids (apparently he got the worst of it) is really horrifying and if I’m going

You could argue that her doing anything with Gary Oldman is its own can of worms, actually.

On the other hand, most of the #metoo crowd of celebrities that wore black signed those letters years ago urging that Polanski be allowed to come to the U.S. with all charges dropped.

I was a huge fan of the Report (as a fan I’m happy for him re: The Late Show but it’s just not my kind of show) but I’ll never quite forgive him for either the Cosby interview or the repeated Henry Kissinger cameos.

I just read that Billy Dee Williams has a history, sadly...

This article has a pretty obvious factual error - Paley has said in follow up tweets that she was an adult when the incident happened. What she was referencing was that he also (allegedly) tried to get with her friend when that FRIEND was only 17. However, Paley also alleged that Franco did something to her that was a

They film all those shows generally in the mid to late afternoon. Also, at least according to a couple people on Twitter who were supposedly in the audience, Franco did show.

She was trying to separate out what Franco (allegedly) did as far as the contract he had with an actor from the rest of that system, and separate it from usual capitalistic motivation, which she explicitly contended is not inherently exploitative. Her words, not mine. I don’t think that a separation can be made there

“It’s not about capitalism. Capitalism need not equal exploitation.”

“It shows a lack of care and decency in a creative endeavor that is not in anyway like a purely capitalist motivation.”

The issue here is that it most capitalistic exploitation isn’t actually better than this. Franco’s contract (if true) is certainly gross, but it’s hardly out of step with, like, pretty much any contract work in America in terms of how exploitative it is.

Then you might want to read literally anything about it.

Yeah, I was gonna say. I don’t like to play equivalencies, but American imperialism is just as vile (and objectively more harmful) as the alt right, never mind that the alt right of course very much supports that kind of violence.

I can’t edit for some reason but jesus, I just looked it up and Pratt is 38, so even older.

In fairness I assume the actor is playing younger than his actual age. But...yeah, that’s bothered me too.

That kind of looks like it would be the dashboard of one of those 80s car racing arcade games.

Sanders is the most popular politician in the country at the moment, and Hillary Clinton’s numbers just keep going down. There’s no way to definitively prove whether Bernie “would have won,” but it’s not exactly a meritless position. You don’t become the most popular politician in the entire country just by having

1) That’s pointless to even try to do, as should have been demonstrated over and over by all of Obama’s attempts to “win over” Republicans over eight years, or Hillary Clinton’s attempts to win over “moderate” Republican voters in 2016, and 2) fuck Mitch and fuck the Republicans, it’s not up to Democrats to curry
