I marched in a ton of the protests against police brutality here in NYC after the disgusting Garner decision.

I went to a taping in February, and someone asked him. He basically went on a (very funny) diatribe about how his running for office would be the worst idea ever.

Does it change though if the man is an accused rapist? (Bill was accused of rape by Juanita Broaderick, not to mention the sexual harassment accusations that swirled around him even in 1992.) I mean, clearly it didn’t, because America still voted for him. But does it change now with better awareness of the issue, even

Yeah, this is kind of where I’m at. I kinda don’t think the Democrats are even much better than Republicans on domestic issues anymore (at least at the presidential level, certainly), but even supposing they were, while I’m willing to make big compromises on issues like Social Security or whatever, I just can’t and

Of course I think they would have all happened under a Republican. That’s actually my point! You don’t see that we’re being shafted as far as the options go? The parties have kept any viable good options out, on purpose.

And if you think either Obama or Clinton cares about marriage equality or your uterus, you’re

I don’t think there is, but that’s why fundamentally I think liberals and Democrats (not that they are one in the same, by any means, but I do think Democratic voters are at least a little more to the left of actual governing members of the party, which are just using them for votes) need to start looking elsewhere.

I’ve been paying attention a lot longer than that. Which is why I know that whoever wins, they will continue the country’s shift to the right.

That’s an extremely limited list of issues, especially when the second is disingenuous (he’s done NOTHING on marriage equality except for his admin arguing for DOMA in court for several years, and his “evolution” on the subject still came with the caveat that he saw it as a state’s rights issue - essentially, a

Oh and btw, I have a political science degree and have worked extensively in politics (campaigning, writing for political websites and human rights orgs, etc). So no lectures on needing to be “more informed,” thanks. I’m just not willing to go for the “lesser of two evils” claptrap anymore when even the “lesser” is

Obama extended all those wars. If Iraq and Afghanistan are Vietnam, then he’s Nixon to LBJ. Except that he’s kept us in them longer. And actively tried to keep us in Iraq well beyond timetable, and is gradually creeping us back in. And has expanded the power to assassinate and detain both foreigners and citizens

According to Matt Taibbi, Bush was actually a lot harder on Wall Street as far as punishing crimes. Not that he was “good,” of course, but Obama has expanded elite immunity beyond what Bush even did.

Unfortunately, it isn’t worse. That’s the problem.

Absent any real evidence to the contrary, yes. As far as I know, Soon-Yi (the “victim,” if it had been underage) has never suggested otherwise, and there isn’t real evidence that the relationship began earlier. What Allen did can be creepy and wrong without necessarily being actually illegal.

Oh, I agree. What he did was mega-wrong for that reason, even if he wasn’t really a part of her life up to that point. Still, I do think a teacher having an affair with a middle school-age student is its own special level of wrong. At least Soon-Yi could (sort of) make an informed choice, even though I still think

Eeeeeeeeehhh, Allen’s definitely a creep (and possibly a rapist), but if this is regarding Soon-Yi, there IS a difference between starting a relationship with a 13-year-old and a 19-year-old. What Allen did with her was still absolutely creepy and wrong, but she was at least an adult who could make her own choices

On the flip side of this, arab children are apparently merely her husband’s cannon fodder.

This article leaves out an important detail, which is that Hillary apparently hit him so hard he needed stitches in his head.

On the other hand, Bill is probably a rapist, soooooo......

I, for one, am just relieved that Taylor has finally moved on from underage boys.

I'd probably go further and say that good satire can't really be done WITHOUT replicating something, to some extent or another. You can't parody something without replicating it or examining it; it's just not really possible. In order to satirize the things conservative TV pundits often say, and then examine them,

As bitter and partisan as our elected officials get in their bickering, I feel like they all tend to give a pass to corruption issues like this, if only because anyone who speaks up will invite a lot more scrutiny of their own dealings. They all kind of have a vested interest in keeping the discussion focused on
