Well the people’s stories I read were actually people who lived there and spoke fluent Japanese. It wasn’t really a tourist thing. Usually tourists had positive things to say but it was the minorities who actually lived there that seemed to have negative things to say.

I only ask this because this came up several times when I was doing research into visiting a couple of years (which is ultimately why I haven’t gone), but is racism really a problem in Japan in regards to white folk? I get racism is everywhere but some people made it seem particularly prevalent in Japan.
