Honest question, how often does this form of protest move the needle? Because when this happens or the soup at painting stunts happen to me it doesn’t tend to generate discussion about the climate or other important issues. Its more people going what assholes and then discussing something else.

However, Ashley Johnson thought it would be cool and empowering, so Druckmann gave Ellie more agency by having her immediately go from being horrified at holding a gun to gunning down fifteen raiders from a sniper’s nest.

I think you really missed the thread on game Ellie. She’s always been drawn to violence. Her trauma after killing the hunter to save Joel was a matter of suddenly facing the reality of violence, vs the fantasy she’d been living with for so long.

A little more context on the Avril Lavigne thing from someone who was there. In my opinion, that woman was basically an attention-seeker dressed up (undressed up?) as a protestor. The tiny amount of effort she made referencing an Ontario provincial issue at an event in Edmonton, Alberta was a pretty odd choice.

I’m just baffled how anyone could say anything unkind about this living legend.  I really think it comes down to some people just feel so threatened by someone so talented and successful, gasp, happy, that they need to tear down.  

Would it have been obvious to Lavigne that it was a protester and not a streaker?  If she was trying to focus on the crowd and not on the protester, would she have known anything other than that a topless woman was traipsing around the stage?  She certainly didn’t seem to say one word that would reveal it was a…
