Sounds like he wants to waste money on who he imagines himself to be. If he was a person who needed an off-road-capable vehicle to complement his lifestyle, he would have gotten one.

Useful tip, but perhaps that’s only through the mobile interface? There’s nothing about Reminders when I clicked through on the link on desktop.
I seem to recall something about Montana and car registrations in that regard. But the rich people here in CA will probably just switch to electrics before that. The electric utilities, construction and government all already see the writing on the wall and proceed with electrification in mind. There’ll be some…
Where are these roads? This is like the “imagined past” where everyone was a self-sufficient farmer and had a cozy, pastoral life, but it was actually just a lot of starvation and pestilence. I’ve been driving for 20 years, and it’s been the rare road that was fun unto itself.
I must be naive, because when I read that story earlier, I was like, “...Huh? What does NFL stand for?”
It wasn’t actually “soldier,” but something like it. But that also means that if they’re writing a post about a woman in a certain occupation, it presumably is out of the ordinary. So, they need to draw attention to it.
Apple Car Play hasn’t been bad, but the version on the new Impreza has experienced widespread bugginess. The distraction has more to do with re-plugging in the phone. APC would also be much better if you could personalize which app icons lived on the homescreen - I have to scroll over to get to my preferred podcast…
Agreed. But I think we need to acknowledge that there’s a trend for people to use “woman” as an adjective when “female” would be better and much less clunky.
I was in the Navy, so I know about long hours..
Hey, everybody! I found him! It’s THAT GUY.
It sounds like he already has exactly what he needs. He can get a rocket car, but he’ll still be in the same traffic as everyone else.
Probably THE major historic site in my hometown in Mississippi is Jefferson Davis’ retirement home. Dang thing keeps surviving hurricanes mostly intact. I don’t wish for another Katrina, but maybe a highly localized tornado.
I went to Catholic school from first to sixth grade. This was news to me. But it’s also make-believe, so it doesn’t matter at all, except as it might apply to trivia nights.
Liberal southerner, too. I’m from a decidedly medium-sized place in Mississippi. But I had the ability to move elsewhere after college, then to be stationed with the military in California. People from outside the South don’t get it, how it really is there. And too many in the South don’t get how they could have it…
Neutral: I’d buy a VW again. I sold back my TDI in February, which was my second TDI. It was a 2012, and, though I’m over diesel after like 14 years of driving them, I miss the comfort of the newer VW interiors, especially the leatherette seating.
I absolutely loved VW’s leatherette. I really miss it, and the quality of the seats in general, now that I sold my TDI and got a Subaru. I wish more companies would make similar materials available - no compelling reason for me to opt for leather seating when something better exists.
The Nissan one looked very interesting, but this seems more straightforward. Then again, I don’t understand how magnets work.
I’m sure there might be an elegant engineering solution to this, but I’d think in the immediate term some signage - like “walk over tracks” - would help. It’s pucker-inducing how they fall to their lefts and almost into traffic.
The Mooch is terrible, of course, but another line in your article struck me:
I’m a former naval officer. This news is disheartening, like everything associated with this admin. I think the officer ranks are oftentimes much more liberal than it’s given credit for, and I’m sure a lot of other officers are shaking their heads over this.
