This stops now. Time to mobilize. If you haven’t already seen it check this out. It is a guide on how to effectively lobby congress. Your reproductive health demands it.

I would like to announce my availability to join the board of any major tech company.

That, and there’s a smaller ‘pool’ of qualified women and minorities to choose from. Not because there is less talent or potential, but because it’s searched for too late. No one is willing to change the method for finding talent. No one wants to change the culture, or realize that women and minorities specifically

This is so true, and not just about race. If you just spent your time in Silicon Valley you would think the only smart people in the world attended just a handful of universities. I’ve sat in so many meetings where I’m the only one who didn’t attend an Ivy League school or Stanford. I came across a great quote a

So....all that talk about how risk takers do better in business and life and all those success stories...don’t apply when it comes to moving out of your comfort zone to create desperately needed diversity in your board of directors to further your business. Got it.

I was never, NEVER happy when I was skinny. Low body weight has ALWAYS corresponded with the darkest parts of my life. It actually bums me out because I have amazing self-discipline and can easily stick to a healthy eating/excercise regimine. I’ve just made the choice to be bigger for my mental health.

Everyone is a drain on our healthcare system because everyone is dying. I work with people who are all different kinds of sick: post-35 your shit starts breaking down, whether you’re skinny or not.

I’m in love with you. Seriously. Thank you. I’m “overweight” but healthy. People look at me and don’t believe me when I say I’m healthy. I had a csection and my recovery rate astonished my medical staff. “Fat” does not equal unhealthy or a drain on others.

You and like ONE other person were the only people who didn’t get the joke.

Since you’re not dropping this and moving on, being a little overweight is actually BETTER (again, massive difference between being overweight and obese) than being underweight. Why? Because god forbid you get sick and can’t eat, fat people have more reserves. Google it.

Fat people can be healthy too. Being thin doesn’t mean you’re healthy. You can still eat unhealthy foods, smoke, drink, not exercise enough etc. Being fat isn’t the worst fucking thing to happen to a person.

WORD. Long ago I decided I was not going to accept the premise that my value as a human was inversely proportional to my weight.

Or maybe stop spreading the bullshit, bigoted propaganda about being fat.
The health issues that are NOT associated with being fat GREATLY outnumber the health issues that ARE associated with being fat.

Hey you should go fuck yourself.

Totally! This is so infuriating, though because we are either slut shamed or fat shamed.

Then stop fat shaming. Fuck off.

You are fat shaming right now, liar. Fuck off.

Ugh, stop pretending to care about fat people; just admit that they make you uncomfortable because they don’t fit in with what you imagine to be ‘right’.

Fun fact: from a scientist’s perspective, weight and BMI have nothing to do with each other. You can be thin and unhealthy, and you can be fat and fit and healthy. And even more: the BMI got arbitrary limits and names. The BMI of “normal” was chosen as a reflection of what was socially acceptable as “normal”. If you

This was amazing. Thank you for writing!
