To be fair, they’re not ALL that expensive, but alcohol in general is ridiculous over there. A night out drinking in NYC is cheap compared to Oslo.

aka the price of a single beer in Norway?

I was so excited when Doritos brought back Salsa Verde. I used to plow through bags of that stuff in the 90s when I worked the night shift at a gas station. Unfortunately, the recipe wasn’t the same - it was the same general flavor, but the old style was much spicier and absolutely coated in a green powder that turned

When Trader Joe’s opened in Wilmington, they had this ginger cake that was flamazing, and then they never had it again. I kept going to the store specifically to look for it and then finally asked after a year or two. It was just a one time thing.

Lavender is one of those florals that is ubiquitous, and it’s usually fake and crappy - but a good lavender is divine.

I usually play about 70% renegade, and in Legendary I did about 85-90% renegade. I enjoy snarky chaotic good Shep, but I do not always enjoy asshole Shep, and it limits a lot of your options. Plus it requires being mean to Tali and I CAN’T DO IT. I did take some of the colder choices though - I killed the rachni queen

I moved a year and a half ago, but I haven’t found any local stores with a good supply of international snacks in my area yet because of the pandemic. Sites like Sockerbit, Scandinavian Goods, and GermanShop24 have singlehandedly reduced the amount of snacks I feel I have to squirrel away in my luggage when I come

I’ve been in retail for 20+ years in four states, and I can count on one hand all the times things threatened to get physical.

I love saltwater taffy, but I also have spent most of my life on the Atlantic coast and the Chesapeake, and it’s well-known and well-done out here. Some flavors are definitely more suited to it than others, but the salt gives it just a little more zing and makes it taste less plasticky than the plain variety.

IPad Pros are the best for digital art. You can buy one used on backmarket.com - I got one for about $150 less than retail and about the only thing I can find wrong with it is the screen has a weird faint glow in one tiny spot that doesn’t affect my usage. Seconding the matte screen protector, too - I hate drawing on

When in Helsinki, I checked out the menu outside an “American” pizzeria. 2/3 of it was nothing you’d *ever* find on an American pizza - things like chicken, peach, bleu cheese, and smetana, or pepperoni, egg, peppers, and bleu cheese. o.O

Last time I was in Finland, I tried an Icelandic beer that was brewed with sheep manure smoked barley. I don’t like beer to begin with, but if I’m brave enough to try Malört and palinka, I can try sheep shit beer.

The lemon crisp ones were surprisingly good. I bought a bag of it as part of an Easter haul for my minions and ended up keeping a third of it for myself.

Almost 20 years ago, I was at a WorldCon in California. Patrick Stewart wasn’t officially on any of the panels, but he happened to be in town filming X-Men (I think), and he volunteered to give a talk in an auditorium for about 200 people. I was lucky enough to grab a ticket. It’s Patrick Stewart - he will never not

Vermont Creamery and Plugra are my favorite eatin’ butters. VC salted cultured butter on fresh sourdough? om nom nom.

I don’t tend to eat much, if at all, at airports, unless I have a long layover and/or I know it’s going to be a while before I can eat at the other end. French fries usually hit the spot - enough grease and carbs to keep me going, but won’t turn into an endless cycle of fart-queefs for eight hours. (No Arby’s roast

Bacon egg and cheese bagels used to be my favorite when I worked near a McD’s 15+ years ago. The last time I had one a couple years ago, I was unimpressed, although I was informed by a friend who worked at one that they hadn’t really changed anything.

I worked in a Booger Fling around 1995 and we poured liquid eggs into molds on the grill, which is probably the same type of thing you’re describing.

I made the mistake of sniffing the fish sauce bottle recently. AUGH.

When I leave cash on a meal I put on a card, I always write CASH on the tip line of the receipt, so there’s still a paper trail, and the server will know if someone “cleaned up” the money (nor can anyone manually add an amount to a blank line).
