Psh. I paid about $650 to Helsinki from the east coast and I see flights that cheap on the regular. I love Finland, but the weather that time of year is AWFUL. Even at the end of March it’s miserably cold with icy wet rain. I would still totally do the 90 days, but only if I could WFH and there was a sauna so I don’t

I was prepared to be an Old Skool Snob about it, but found I really enjoyed it - it kept all of the puzzle and acrobatic challenges that made the original so much fun, and not just a nonstop bloodbath with the occasional switch to hit.

I adored the first three Tomb Raiders - I used to watch a friend play I on his PS1 when I was in college, and it was the first game I bought when I finally got a PS1 as well. I about murdered my much younger sister who saved over my game after I spent hours hollering at that T-Rex.

Carpetbagger Yankee who’s lived in North Carolina almost as long as she lived in New York just lol’d.

While I do put milk in my grits, optimal for me is about 60-40 - it starts out 50-50 but I usually add a bit more water as it goes. I tried all milk and it was just Too Much. Was not a fan of chicken broth either. Just water, milk, good salted butter, salt and pepper, and some sharp shredded cheese. (Once I used some

Fly symbolism is so painfully perfect in this situation.

I work in a retail store, and I will ABSOLUTELY go up to rambunctious kids whose parents aren’t paying any attention and tell them nicely but firmly to stop running before they hurt themselves or someone else, or to stop punching a box that they pulled off the shelf onto the floor (yes, really, and mom was three feet

My personal experience:

I prefer butter myself, but I’d already made bacon - which is actually what I used the harissa spices on - and figured I’d use the already warmed up and seasoned grease! Smoked paprika in general opens up really nicely in fat, and this blend from the Spice & Tea Merchant is super tasty, I use it in hummus too.

I just had eggs fried in bacon grease sprinkled with harissa spices, but I will give your method a whirl... tomorrow.

Tyrkisk Peber. Good stuff.

*raises hand* I posted about salmiakki just a moment ago. I LOVE that stuff. I’ve shared it at a big party and it does get very intense reactions - people either love it or they loathe it.

I love salmiakki - Finnish salty licorice, which can be found in candy form and also in alcoholic form, notably salmiakki koskenkorva. It tastes like the inside of a Good N’ Plenty. It is delicious. And it will FUCK YOU UP if you drink too much. I was green around the edges and vaguely nauseated for hours one morning

I had orange juice at Cafe Beignet in New Orleans around 2004 that was SO GOOD that I had two glasses every day I was there at probably $4-5 a pop. It was the most perfect orange juice that could ever exist - fresh, minimal pulp, perfect balance of sweet and tart. I still reminisce about it. I regret not asking what

One of the fastest ways to my heart is a box of fresh raspberry rugellach. Apricot is also acceptable.

I used to work on President for several years, and the squeegee kids were obnoxious little fucks who stole hand soap for their windshield-washing racket and occasionally terrorized meek drivers, but you’d have to be exceptionally stupid to mistake them for BLM protestors.

I’m 2/3 of the way through it now and have accepted that it’s space soap opera, not space drama. The turning point was seeing a couple hundred feet of tinsel garland hung up all over the ship - even 15-20 years in the future, they aren’t going to have room for that shit! I also seriously question who let some of these

I don’t use sesame oil nearly as often as I should - I love putting it in a pot of jasmine rice, and a good sesame-ginger dressing is my second favorite (next to quality evoo and Alessi raspberry blush vinegar).

CC killed my biological father - but he had so many other things wrong with him that the VA missed the markers until it was too late. (But if it wasn’t that, his heart would have got him within the next few years.)
