I think the terrible orange zapper had to do with a wave of anti-toy gun sentiment that grew considerably right around that same period of time. I think most of the time no one gives a shit there. But in this case they did care (as you can tell by the article). I suppose the difference between this and the countless other knock offs is that this is coming out of an “elite school” so I think the standards are higher that usual.
