Thanks for the nice response. I was actually a very picky eater as a child, too, and didn't start growing out of it until my late teens. It's been a slow process (turning 42 this weekend), but there are only a handful of foods I still won't eat (celery and baked beans, for whatever reason).

I'm sorry, I just don't agree that we, as parents, have as much say in this as is presented here.

When I lived in Montana it was Mennonites, but here in Ohio it's often German Baptists. Not sure the differences between the two in theology, but they wear similar uniforms. I have encountered and enjoyed farmer's market goods from both (the local farmer's market here has a German Baptist's family that makes insanely

I really enjoyed that movie - really aesthetically beautiful, and had an interesting, unique concept.

Honk honk honky honk?

Not intended as an insult in the slightest - more a nod to his anti-conformity. I love me some Mike Patton - I even had a Mr. Bungle infatuation for a little while there back when the self-titled album first came out.

"In Loving Memory of…" and "The Pleasure and the Greed" are both pretty perfect, front to back. I pull them out about once every year or two, and they still really hold up. Although not quite as good, "Albatross" has quite a few solid tracks as well.

Good call.

Such an amazing song off of such an amazing album. And I agree with your assessment of his voice. There's no one out there that even comes close (although Ian Thornley from underrated Canadian band Big Wreck does a pretty decent impression (unintentional or not)).

As much as I love Josh Homme and Queens, I don't think he's a "rock star." Never quite got to that level of fame and infamy - he's always been a little more of a fringe figure.

Yup. Government is always evil. Mega corporations trying to turn is into unthinking consumer machines should be free to do whatever they want. 'Cause they're people.

Yay gardens! I've got about 2/3 of mine all planted, and a few things are sprouting. I love this time of year.

She's a global treasure.

They write really catchy, fun pop songs that are well served by their sibling harmonies. Nothing terribly mysterious about it, in my opinion.

Probably like Clinton's denial back in the 90s. Turns out he couldn't because of a throat issue, so he just ate brownies instead.

Honestly, with the evidence pointing toward collusion between members of his campaign and Russia, I think he should have been wiretapped or had some kind of surveillance set up. I don't think he was, but I think it would have been completely appropriate to do so (through the official channels, of course).

My son (10 years old) has eaten a peanut butter covered banana for probably 80% of the breakfasts he's had in his life. I keep thinking he's going to get sick of it, but no sign yet…

Really? That royally sucks.

Yellow Springs is an island of empathy, sanity and freedom in what is largely Trump country (from the numbers of stupid fucking Trump signs I saw in the surrounding areas leading up to the election).

Agreed! I actually just started reading it to my kids like three nights ago. I've been waiting until I thought they were old enough - they're 8 and 10. We just finished The Order of the Phoenix last week, and I realized, if they can handle the shit that goes down in that book, they can handle severed children and
