I suppose I should have been more specific with what I meant by “sham” only later did I realize it could be interpreted as meaning it was a sham to charge him. I blame typing before sufficient coffee. That excuse always works.

because shoplifters get larger sentences than he did with three sexual assault felonies.

Tell ya what, when you learn what the term *genocide* means and realize that words have meaning especially when applied to a group that was the victim of an attempted genocide, then you can talk to me without being dismissed.

See and other people can see problems with Israeli policies without resulting to nonsensical arguments like “genocide”

most have some sort of scholarship. There are 102 players on the team and 85 scholarships (though I imagine many are not full tuition).

you are right it is all pointless bluster. It is interesting to me that people are much more focused on this than the actual merits of the UN resolution.

Hey, I totally agree that right wing nuttery is vastly superior in reach. However, living in the SF Bay Area, left wing nuttery seems to be a much higher proportion. Also, I think it is important to look at social media followers more than website traffic, which is where a lot of the spread of fake news occurs.

well they appear to have leverage over the US often enough!

That is why I said an “ideal world”...but the police and court resources are always going to be vastly superior to that of a school...if they can be convinced to use them.

Sure at large you are correct, though I was referring to people here in response to the OP “i am so fucking sick of people defending rapists,” which I assumed referred to to comments on this post [but maybe the OP meant the comments of the outgoing provost, so fair enough]. I think it is better to go to the police because I don’t think schools are equipped to deal with sexual assault. However, I would agree more generally that schools are interested in protecting their image and that would create incentives for protecting high profile athletes (we don’t know if this person is actually an

That is mostly correct. The procedures up to sentencing weren’t a sham, he was found guilty of three felonies. The sentencing was a sham (though I tend to blame the probation department more than the judge since the probation department is the one that recommended the light sentence...though as final arbiter, the

I think the relative percentages of people who believe Pizzagate suggest that they are less gullible when taken alone. To show “equal gullibility” they need to provide something nutty that liberals believe in at a much higher percentage than conservative. Maybe something to do with “organic” food.

Counterpoint: Natural news, food babe, mercola

publishing salacious gossip about personal lives of people is not the reason for “media companies” to exist, or at least not a reason we should be too concerned about

Thank you for that helpful response. I will certainly consider that argument in evaluating my opinion on the issue.

maybe you should take your own advice?

You must not have looked closely at US history of subtle and not so subtle threats of violence against other countries.

I agree that the question is irrelevant, but my comment was in response to someone suggesting that Israel didn’t have the physical ability to make good on the threat
