No I do, I sound like an asshole. I shouldn't judge a whole region since republicans do that and that makes it hypocritical. But at the same time.... Gays don't do anything to warrant the hate from small minded bigots. African Americans don't do anything to deserve the intense scrutiny and distrust they receive, it's

Ok, I’m gonna sound like a typical smarmy over educated liberal here but....shit like this is why people think of the Republican Party as “the stupid people party”. It’s also why that saying “if you want to see what life was like 25 years ago go to the south” is becoming so prevalent and incredibly true. I know that

I can’t say that I thought hilarious was a great word choice.

Mission Impossible III saved the franchise, just remember that.

“Super 8 = An Amblin film knock-off...”

And honestly, what I don’t get is — it really *isn’t* an identical story? Abrams plays with a lot of the same framework and plot beats and whatnot, but in terms of its core themes and its emotional moments, they are entirely new. Fin, the kid who’s known nothing but war and yet can’t bear the reality of it, possessed

Hear, hear.

Yup - look, I know there’s a lot of people around here who would piss on Abrams if he discovered the cure for cancer, AIDS and the common cold. He can’t do a damn thing right by them, and I guess that’s OK. If his work isn’t your glass of blue milk, it just isn’t.

Heh, that’s a funny complaint given how much flak he got for not leaning on the old material enough in his star trek reboots.

Oh, I can’t wait for the comments on this one.

I’d rather get a new planet that has sand on it than go back to Tatooine. “Look a Jawa! Look sand people! Guys? Hello! Sand people! Remember them??”

There are plenty of people who swore off Star Wars after the Prequels. TFA had to prove to them that it had Star Wars chops or they were never going to sign up to see the following films. If Abrams had simply mailed it in or gone too far off the reservation, he’d have lost a lot of money for the franchise.

It’s gonna be tough to explain if you don’t already understand why on a gut level.

Because the prequels sucked. Worse, they completely ignored everything that made Star Wars work. The characters. The mystery. The hints of a larger universe. A universe that looks lived-in. The prequels made everything look brand new, but also small. Every character was connected to the original trilogy, even where it

Or Han ends up frozen in carbonite—Oh, wait.

Maybe geeks don't need a reminder, but general audiences coming off the prequels probably did.

I had no problem with the borrowed themes. They were so on the nose, I thought it was an obvious nod to the originals and not just a blind ripoff. Now, if Finn loses a hand and Rey makes out with her brother in the second one, THEN I will be suspicious....

Just wow. It makes no sense on any conceivable level. Surely people are aware that Arabic is just a language spoken by millions of people - and surely once they didn't find anything suspicious on this man or his luggage they should have just upgraded him to business with a profound apology?! But FBI?!?! No opportunity

When men get even half the amount of don’t rape messages that women get about not getting drunk/dressing in a short skirt/walking the street alone/existing in public, then we can talk about it...as for now...

So how about telling guys not to ply women with alcohol until they pass out? And how about reminding guys that if she can’t consent, it’s rape? It would be nice if these guys put some of the responsibility on men to act like decent human beings instead of on the women to avoid getting raped.
