And if the home builders are paying for it, it’s going to be a budget model.

It looks like the study was done by the National Association of Home Builders or, in other words, “It’s not our fault the water heater in your new house died after 10 years. That’s just the average.”

We bought a new KitchenAid dishwasher 4 years ago. It’s actually a Whirlpool with KitchenAid badges. ANYWAY, we bought the extended service agreement for $200 after reading some reviews that indicated the quality was hit & miss (and to be fair, unless you step up to something like Miele, hit & miss quality is endemic

Fridge and washer every 5 years?!? Are you insane? This message brought to you by the fridge and washer union, motto: “buy yet another new machine today.”

Thanks for a great article. I usually use my phone or my PC with Kindle for PC for reading but have been thinking about just getting myself and e-reader for the technical books I buy. The PC/laptop Kindle version works fine but I don’t always want to fire up a computer just to read a book and reading on the

I don’t like that approach, though. No offense to your mom, but here is my reasoning (it’s from another comment I made on a post on Jezebel where a kid died because the parents went to a neuropath even though the child had meningitis, I think):

I agree with you, though I guess I don’t fault the police, in this instance, for not taking extraordinary risks to save them. In the more common, “suspect ran so I started shooting,” stories I pretty much never side with the police. But, “suspect ran, put themselves in danger and I’d have had to put myself in danger

Right, what do people expect? The cops to dive into the water, lift the car up over their heads, and bring it over to dry land? There’s only so much they can do in those first few minutes of an accident like this. They made the right call.

Empirically stealing cars doesn’t lead to death. Their specific actions do. Sorry I’m not a moral relativist. Tell me this: why don't you steal cars and run from police?

Should have survived.
Could have survived? Not the way this happened, once the car hit the bottom.

No one is saying they deserved to die. Everyone is saying that the actions of the girls directly caused their deaths. Not because of the inactions of the police.

It's not about them running. It's their criminal records at such a young age. The world lost nothing with their deaths.

Also fuck people who think they have a deep connection with wild animals and can communicate with them.

I love these stories where the comments go:

Do you really need an “expert”? I mean the logic is sound and somewhat obvious once you think about it. If I believed in “common sense” I’d probably call it that.

My father was driving his VW bug one day when a leaking fuel line started a fire in the (rear) engine compartment. He pulled over, and almost immediately a good samaritan who saw what happened took out his fire extinguisher and stopped the fire before it did much damage. “Letting it go” would have been pretty stupid,

I’m fully aware of everything in this article. I however, still choose to shower every day because despite commonly held belief, I am not in fact a goddamn savage.

I ask anyone who reads this to continue and shower every day. Specially if you take public transportation or sit in a cubicle farm.

In Canada, all pharmacies accept drugs for disposal at any time. I usually just bring them in when I go grocery shopping since virtually every grocery store has a pharmacy.
