Those are just stickers for LHD cars that are circumstantially driving in a RHD country or vice versa, they work as a temporary measure effectively blocking the light for oncoming drivers as you said.

You have to admit they picked some real duds. The old Audi RS6? The original Chrysler 300C and previous-gen Jeep Cherokee? The R-Class? All nightmare vehicles from a repair standpoint.
