Toyota and BMW together for a sports car? Hrmm, let´s see: Chassis made of carbon fiber, wheels made of carbon fiber, engine parts made of carbon fiber, windows made of carbon fiber, gasoline made of carbon fiber, carbon fiber made of carbon fiber... MOARR FIBERR!!

Yes that was a fine chance you had back then, specially considering the price, I however don't think the GTI had anything to do with the TC's demise, it wasn't even on sale back then. Passats, on the other hand...

Yes I knew about the TC, but I didn't know that it was a Brazil-specific project, I thought it was just another global VW. Regarding the kombis, they're quite battered normally, but if you're willing and able to work in them, I'm pretty sure they are rock solid, so chassis-wise you shouldn't have any problems you

You have (had) some really nice cars there!! If I were you, I'd look for any of the last batch of air-cooled Kombis, since now that the water-cooled ones are also out of the line, if you keep it for a while you could even end up with a nice investment, and they should be cheaper right now than any other air cooled VW.

Shouldn't the VW Ze do Caixão fit the bill better here? I mean, had the Karmann-Ghia wheelbase, the Beetle engine and was a custom bodied saloon with custom headlights... And besides, I don't know any other car that has a name coming straight from a horror movie character.

Don't know whether or not qualifies for this, but out of the great story behind it deserves a spot anyway IMO.

Not at all. Future quirky classic. Imagine a 1960s genuine Aston Martin branded Microcar that sold in pretty small numbers? That'd be Sotheby's territory right now. Maybe I'm pretty bad mistaken, but looks the kind of investment that may have a fairly good rate of return, and is not that expensive given that you

And mainly because that you think there's nobody around doesn't actually mean there's nobody around. But yeah, I see your point as well.

Sorry to be the one who has to say it but this is rather pointless, everyone who has been around in Jalopnik for a while knows that any item that makes driving any less involved and cannot be deactivated if desired is straight away put in the "worthless car technology". I mean, I could just go through all the things a

How about an engine swap for a V8, and add some disc brakes? Would turn into a really classy DD...

As far as I know, I don't find it that strange:

Really interesting, thanks so much for sharing!

Really? If you're into weird brazilian microcars, I think a dwarfed Porsche 928 is a better and weirder choice, but still...

You're clearly misunderstanding him. It'd have been enough to use something that was sensible, locally produced in the Valencia region, like in the Almussafes' Ford Plant. Case in point:
