This is absolutely stupid PR for Tesla to tussle with one of the most well-respected federal investigative bodies, especially when there’s an image of their product chopped in half and their play is to blame the driver before a full investigation is in.

Tesla is not a neutral party. That’s like asking Facebook to tell you the truth.

They have so much to loose you can’t think they’re that altruistic.

That’s not how this works.

Tesla is making claims they can’t back up before the NTSB finishes their investigation. They’re yelling first to get their narrative out front.

I specifically said the car driver is an idiot and is clearly at fault however, there is no reason (other than equipment failure) that the blue truck should have jackknifed if they were going a safe speed and paying attention.

Yes, but why? He did have about ten seconds, and what looks like a relatively unobstructed view of the stopped jackass. No need for anything other than calm, measured braking.

I’m sure they didn’t brake in time because they didn’t really perceive what was going on until it was too late. But technically they have to be able to stop for slow or stopped traffic ahead.

While the car driver was an idiot, the truck drivers are VERY at fault here (though you could argue about the first). Clearly they were traveling too fast for the road conditions, especially the blue truck who somehow wrecks a full 10 seconds after the car stops.
