You forgot to mention setting up 2-factor authentication, after which this disaster is virtually impossible.

Just install some motion detector switches. Then you don’t need to worry about turning them off.

Maybe you ought to do a slideshow of the three posts this week that weren’t slideshows?

Not even going to think about “Start slideshow” on this one. Does it have 62 slides, each of which will completely make my browser window jump and dance as it refreshes the precious ads? I’m sure some brave (or unwitting) soul out there will find out.

Any list of the best extensions of year 2### for Chrome should start with uBlock Origin (or another similar ad blocker).

So I can’t be the only one who keeps the sound off by default.

As a Red Seal mechanic, I’ll say: Listen to Jalopnik here. The chances of you damaging you windshield wipers pointing up? Slim to none. The chances of you damaging them from having them frozen to the glass? Probable.

I was wondering if this was the same article and I’d misread the headline or something. Thanks for clarifying that I’m not losing my mind.

Yup, here these idiots both are, neither with anything useful to add to the world, but both with a platform to deride people for not experiencing life in the way they think they should. Just look at this writer’s credentials. Either they’re stupid, or full of shit.

Jalopnik just pushed the opposite opinion yesterday. Y’all need to talk: https://jalopnik.com/i-cant-believe-i-have-to-say-this-but-its-totally-fine-1846302894

It’s more that HBO management is fucking this up, ignoring a 30% market share, which more than doubles the market share of the next competitor, the Amazon Fire Stick. Estimating 400 million connected devices in the US alone, that’s 120 million to Amazon’s estimated 40 million devices.
To further the short sightedness

You might want to check and see if Fire TV has HBO Max before you make the switch (spoiler alert: they don’t). I’m not sure how HBO Max still hasn’t made it onto these platforms, but it’s a fair assumption that it’s not solely Roku throwing their weight around.

Honest question? Are these really worth the price? Or is it the typical Apple mark up for the name?

I would argue that iCloud is not a “good backup”. It’s not really a backup at all but rather a syncing service (I believe Apple mentions this in some of their descriptions). If a chunk of photos gets deleted on your phone, that will sync immediately to your iCloud, and if you don’t notice in 30 days or so, the trash

Is there a Chrome extension that gets rid of the shitty slideshow on Kinja?

I, too, prefer LastPass - but what I like most about them over Google’s is they are not platform dependent. I like being able to open the LP app on my phone to call up any type of secure info (credit card number, kids social security number, etc, etc).

If you don’t need it, put it in an investment account for your kids so they can afford to pay back the tax bill for all of this 50 years from now :-\

There are likely hundreds, maybe thousands, of instances. The masks aren’t about protecting the wearer.  They’re about the wearer keeping their goobers to themselves.

Is there any data out there regarding whether or not those that have worn cloth masks have still gotten COVID?  I know there are laboratory examples and studies, but have their been any field tests or even anecdotal evidence that has supported the airborne theory?

i just bought a pair last week. I am fairly impressed with the ANC on them. Theyre not as good as an over-ear pair of headphones, but for earbuds, theyre pretty good.

there are 3 “modes”: ANC, Transparency and Off.
