I’ve often wondered how much closer to the goal of zero emissions we’d be if everything was a plug in hybrid. People hate them because they’re not actually zero emission, but they solve a lot of issues, so they’d be much easier for the populace at large to adopt.

I’ve said for years that FSD was a class-action suit waiting to happen. How many people paid thousands for an option that didn’t exist as advertised, still doesn’t, and may never with the hardware those cars were sold with...and either sold it or fulfilled the lease without seeing any benefit for their thousands?

Well I don’t want to be on the road with your beta test.

What do most of these have in common? They have CVT transmissions which IMHO sucks all of the joy out of driving. The Nissans in particular because their CVTs tend to self destruct at around the 50k mark

(Ignore me, I’m just rubbing lemon juice and salt in my wounds)

T.L.D.R version: Firefighters can easily deal with EVs

I’m a 35 year veteran firefighter, 13 years as a Battalion Chief, so I know what I’m talking about. EV fires are a concern, but not a huge problem. True, firefighters need to be informed about handling EV fires, but they are a kin to other types of situations we

I don’t know why I would bother trying to contribute to the anti-EV cesspool that is jalopnik, but these fires are largely due to the unstable chemistry of NMC lithium ion batteries.

This year will see the mass production of 200 wh/kg LFP cells and maybe endof 2023 or 2024 we’ll see 230 wh/kg LFP lithium ion cells.

This is true they have got much more efficient, but many truckers do everything they can to hold onto older trucks. Heck they even made “gliders” new trucks that you put old engines into for far too long...

Police pursuit is what led to the childs death

and if he, driving drunk, drifted off the road and crashed, to the same end result, the police department would be facing even worse condemnation for not stopping him when they had the chance and for not taking strong steps to protect the kids in the car.

No, but if you are driving in a manner indicating you’re intoxicated and take extreme measures to avoid a cop talking to you (or observing your children, note, for all a cop knows he is refusing to roll down the window because the kids would call for help) then that isn’t “just driving with your kids”. The context,

I’d say it’s the fact that he ran. If I was the officer, I would think the only fuck dumb enough to run with kids in the car would be because the kids aren’t his.

Not even sure the cops initiated the chase in this instance.

Maybe don’t run from the cops when you have your kids in the car?

Yes this is definitely not the fault of the guy who decided to drive drunk with his children in the car and then take off from a traffic stop. Had the police not tried to stop him, and he had killed his kids (and maybe other people) in a DUI crash, the police would be blamed for not stopping him.

This is the same speech you gave when you dumped me. That was a really awkward trip to Olive Garden.

There’s a lot of embarrassing stuff that comes out of my home state of Louisiana. I mean, just a metric f*ckton of stuff. And this whole Elio saga has to be the third most embarrassing thing... after education and healthcare.

I’m not a fan of these blade accidents.

It’s actually a difficult decision...

Rename this product the "freedom saver" and watch Trump voters scramble to buy these up by the thousands, just like those "freedom phones" and misspelled Trump membership cards.
