Right. I didn't see the dumping as the result of Cameron. I think Sara and Cameron actually could get along.

I think the backlash that started with some of the darker episodes of TNG (for example "The Pegasus", or the episode where Picard is tortured)… and then pretty much all of the DS9 during the Dominion War… really got carried away. As much as Berman, Moore, etc. needed to get away from Flower Power, they took it too far.

When Wesley Crusher was well-written (for example in the episode where the cadets get court martialed for hot-dogging and Picard has to lecture them on the first duty of every Starfleet officer, etc.), he was good.

He was the consummate nerd character (except for Data, who literally did not have a heart).

Yes, but my understanding is that Series 2 was during the TV writer's strike.
