In Divinity Original Sin, there’s a point where there’s a chest behind a piece of rope and the character comments on how silly it is that they can’t get past it :D (You can get the chest in other ways: exploding your character over the rope, teleporting past it, lifting the chest over to your side, etc)

Thats not fully accurate. Average life expectancy doesn’t mean that few people lived longer, it just means that many did not. Average life expectancy is also largely skewed by the high infant mortality in the past, but often once you grow up, you may have lived quite long. Unless you were a soldier, I guess.
