Perry and Croft were of course brilliant, but I didn’t want to just rattle off a list of fantastic British sitcom writers (I’d have gone to Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais next - ‘A Night In’ qualifies them for any ‘best screenwriters’ list). I went with John Sullivan because Only Fools and Horses is such an

Fair point :)

Yeah, I like a lot of that episode, but I did think it was a shame they didn’t match up ‘young’ Bender to the ‘young’ Bender we’d seen earlier in the series (how hard would it have been to show him upgraded from the baby model to his fully grown one?). It’s a small gripe, but the show’s usually so good about

Exactly (I tried to edit my comment to add that they made far more than just A Matter of Life and Death, but Kinja is the worst). So many great works from those two, and yet so little recognition.

That episode is one of the better CC episodes... but I don’t think it’s up there with the classics, it just seems to be because there’s some dreadful episodes in those seasons. The Adam & Eve one was the second of the season and it was horrendously bad (it didn’t seem quite as bad at the time because we were so

No Robert Holmes, no list. And what about Powell and Pressburger?

I was trying to think how I’d missed this arc in my run through of The Complete Peanuts collection I’ve been getting as gifts over the last half dozen years, since I’m up to 1976 and am only missing one volume up to that point... but sure enough, it’s 1965-1966 I’m missing. Need to get me a copy of that!

Yeah, I know it’s not really possible, just desperately wishful thinking :/

Great article, great new feature. Nicely done.

How can we make sure Trump sees Colbert’s plea? He makes a good point - Trump can turn on the NRA without it costing him anything, and gain support from millions.

I’d be fine with them using the term ‘presidential’ to describe Trump as long as each time they do they include the word ‘surprisingly’ beforehand. Acknowledge it for the ineffective rarity that it is.

And JK Rowling and RL Stine.

At the funeral they’re going to put him in one of three coffins...

So, it’s bad. There’s no real denying that. But it has some imagination, some inventiveness, which made it a much more interesting watch than some objectively better shows I’ve tried to watch (I’d rather watch a second episode of this than The Handmaid’s Tale, for example).

That depends on the ratings. 7 weeks isn’t long to lose ratings - if they manage to dip below about 1.5 million viewers in that time, I’d say there’s no hope for it returning, it’d just be a fool’s errand. However, if they can keep it above 2 million (which shouldn’t be too tricky) they would probably be able to

Can’t we have a Shrek2fest instead? It might actually be fun.

Kind of, but he was also very much the guy rebelling against the system. He’d been put down, ignored, mistreated, he deserved better, and so he fought back to get it. That’s pretty rootable for. And he makes all of these horrible decisions, but they’re kiiiiiind of justifiable. But they get less and less justifiable.

The thing is, Walter White got less idolizable (sic?) as the show went on - one of the fun parts of discussing the show was determining just where people stopped rooting for him - and any moments of glory were swiftly chased by moments of horror (look at Dead Freight, for example). With Rick... I dunno, the show is

I don’t go to London often enough for this to affect me, but my Facebook feed was absolutely lit up with people bemoaning the decision today. Many were understanding (if annoyed), but a lot were swearing blue murder or starting/sharing petitions to get it changed.
