A similarly creative US Navy approach is the rumor that it is looking into minisubmarines to deliver a nuclear payload, instead of the present huge submarine fleet, now that technology is likely to end the latter’s invisibility.

Very interesting because the US Navy has definite needs different than the other “flying” branches and is clearly displeased by the flying limitations imposed by the US Marines insistence that the new F-35 have vertical liftoff capabilities which compromise maneuverability.
