I’m pretty sure that there wouldn’t be a shortage of good applicants for a role of this scale. It’s not a mystery why they went with Scarlett Johanssen: it’s box office, and she’s got a track record.

It doesn’t, but it was an opportunity to cast an Japanese or similarly suitable actress in the role. Considering that the movie, and the culture of the movie would work well with that.

Okay, but as this is an American movie, America is still relevant here. And although black actors and actresses are getting more roles, and better roles, than isn’t really the case for other minorities, especially Asian-Americans.
