My dad owning a 20 year old used jag that’s worth 6-8k and my mom owning a nearly 40 year old Mercedes that she bought whe it was 15 years old and daily drove for 5 years automatically qualifies me as well off?

Given 300,000 I can tell you exactly how I’d spend it:
A low end Singer build is obviously the answer
Yeah I assume his insurance premium will significantly increase to make up the difference as well.
It’s about how to loose HP.....not sure that’s positive lol
Yes obviously you loose time, but not nearly as much. If Lewis Hamilton blows a corner on a lap it only costs him a couple 10ths, where as if I’m doing the same track in a classic Porsche I may lose a second or more for the same mistake.
Remember about 10-15 years ago when “cold air intakes” were all the rage, but they were literally just a cone filter sucking hot engine air.
You can, but horsepower will cover over a lot small mistakes. Say your going into a complex of 3-4 consecutive turns, if you scrub too much speed going in, or get a bit off line at some point you can make it up on the next straight with a higher horsepower car. If you don’t have horsepower it forces you to concentrate…
Audi and BMW reliability is questionable. I wouldn’t own one. For the same money as this car you can get a 997.1 911 C4S. It’s just as fast, with a better gearbox, and better reliability
Here’s the $40,000 question: RS5 or 997.1 C4S
Want to get the IRS full attention? Dangle this carrot out in front of them:
I can’t belive they didnt have anything set up on track to prevent them from running straight! Charlie Whiting is pretty severe with penalties in F1 for exceeding track limits, and yet they still set up barriers on the chicanes at Paul Ricard and Monza
Wow! Yellow is super rare on the 964, I haven’t seen more than a handful of those.
This is a Lewis adjacent conversation:
Definitely a great race!
There is a significant difference between talent and class. He is one of the top 5 all time great drivers, however he is simultaneously one of the most insufferable.
Mmmmmm for $4K you could buy this and then do an M113k + 722.6 swap......very tempting
The nice thing about the 74-94 911’s is that you can buy them, drive them all the time, and still make money on them. I have had 3, still own 1 and the other 2 I sold for a profit, and getting ready to buy a 4th for a safari build.
993’s are interesting. They are simultaneously the best and worst aircooled 911. I think a lot was made of them being the last air cooled and therefore the most refined thus the “best”. Which drove them to be the most expensive for a while.
The Singer GT isn’t a comp for any of the vehicles you mentioned. No one is looking at a used AMG or M and then thinks “you know what, I’m gonna get a Kia that has literally none of the same features instead”.
