Not trying to win an argument, I don’t really care what people believe.

They are, look at Japanese car culture. The Chinese and Japanese constantly beat the US in scholastics. It’s not a racist comment, is a casual observation that they have some I’ve the best creative minds in the world right now.

This is jalopnik, we are car people, you see the cars that come out of that culture. Half the cars in Japan look like UFO’s

I’m stuck on the part about this being a government run insurance agency.....how is that a thing? That seems like a horrible idea. Government healthcare I get, cool, your population is generally healthier than ours so you can do something nice like that. But government car insurance seems idiotic.

Set aside the whole “is there / isn’t there” debate for a moment.

He lies. They are no worse to own than this SC, the drivetrain is dead reliable, as it was lifted straight out of basically every other Mercedes model of the era. There are E500’s and ML500’s with HUNREDS of thousands of miles, proving reliability. Most of the sensors and electronics that can fail are also pulled

Tavarish has definitively proven they aren’t terrifying....The drivetrain in a 500 or 55 are as bulletproof as this Toyota, there are many m113 v8’s with +300k and no major repairs. Yes, the electronics are finicky as they age, but they are miles ahead of a Jag, and with the exception of the roof, they are also shared

The 2nd gen Raptor can run just fine on regular, but you’re supposed to use premium when putting the vehicle under stress like towing, etc. mid grade seems like a happy balance between the 2 for daily use as filling a 36 gal tank with premium to cruise around town or on a long road trip is excessive and wasteful. and

Same with my Raptor, they say you can do 87, except when it’s hot or the vehicle is under stress like towing or “Raptor-ing”

My dad owns a Jaggggggg from the same era....paid 14k for it a few years back. He’s driven it maybe 1,000 miles and if that mileage is true (which I think is a generous estimate) then it’s costing him about $10 per mile between depreciation and frequent repairs. In fact the repairs are part of the reason he hasn’t

Hell I probably do 3k a year in pleasure driving. And I drive ~30k a year just for work (I own businesses in 2 states). 800mile road trip basically every 2 weeks, plus all the regular driving I have to do for work. All the features are great and get used extensively

I had a similar interaction when I wanted to buy a Cayenne Turbo after graduating college, it was a 2 year old with 35k on it and I damn near had to beg to get behind the wheel.

Mostly, but some people got them and genuinely enjoy them.

I literally only picked up a prime membership to get access to TGT. And it’s the only thing I watch on prime video. If they cancel it after season 3, I will probably drop my prime membership as I don’t really order enough stuff to justify it.

It looks like an F-150 with a slightly different center console

I don’t get this philosophy. When I go to buy a car I want nearly every option on it. I honestly can’t imagine life without driver assistance package and cooled seats. I practically live in my car, so driver assistance features help me stay safe when my attention gets pulled away from the road and living in the south,

This is 100% true, my dad is from rural Kansas, he still talks to one of his college buddies all the time. The guy owns thousands of acres of farm land and drives a Chevy with cloth seats. He complained to my dad when his daughter in law bought an Escalade, because he was worried what people in the town would think of

Spoken like someone who knows nothing, and is filled with jealousy.....

If someone has just shy of 100k to spend why go this route vs an M5?

1-2 vehicles isnt a lot of man power for 3 miles...Well actually more like 6 because there isn’t a great deal of visibility through the line of trains.
